Editor Overview

The editor allows you to add content to your pages in the form of text, images and links. This content is then converted by the editor into code so you don't have to!

This section of the user guide will give you an overview of the editor and how to use it. With links to areas that require a more in-depth explanation.

You can select to view the editor in either basic or advance mode. We recommend using the advanced toolbar, as the basic will limit you on what you can achieve with your site

The back and forward buttons enable you to undo anything deleted / created by mistake.

To insert an image onto your page click the red icon.

Then browse for an image on your computer to be [uploaded].

To insert a link ([hyperlink]) between internal or external webpages or to larger images, document or items. Click the yellow icon and select the what you would want to link to.

To delete a link or anchor highlight the source of the link and click the break link button.

You will not be able to create a new link from that source until the original one is removed.

To create an anchor, to link from one part of a page to another. Go to the point you want to link to and click the anchor button.

To then link to that anchor go to the point you want to link from and click the anchor icon again. this time choose to link to an anchor.

You can add flash files to your pages to add videos or animation.

By highlighting text and clicking on one of the options to the left you can add Bold, Italic, Underlined, and striked through text.

To colour text click on the coloured double A icon and select from the colour picker the text colour you wish to use.

Alternatively you can choose to highlight the text, with a choice of highlight colours, by clicking the ab icon next to it.

If you are creating a list you can easily assign numbers or bullets to the points.

To create a division on your page by inserting a line across it click on the A-B icon

These icons allow you to add or remove an indent to your text.

Know as justifying you can highlight your text and choose how it is aligned on your page.

Each button’s diagram will give an indication of how the text will be [formatted].

If you need to copy and paste text from programs such as Word it is advisable to remove all of the Word [formatting] from the text before doing this. For more information please go to.

To make your text a heading or sub heading first highlight the text then select from the drop down box shown to the left the type of heading you need.

Headings are also highlight more important text to the search engines as they can pick up on this setting.

Your template may also be programmed to display Heading text in a different accent colour.

You have the choice of 6 fonts for the text on your pages.

The number of fonts are limited to those that are reliably recognised across the internet.

If you use non standard fonts some users computer browsers may not be able to read them.

To change the size of your text first highlight it with your mouse then select from the drop down box the size you require.

If you have changed the [formatting] (size, colour, font etc) of your text and wish to return it to how it was first highlight it then press the remove [format] button shown to the left.

On your pages there are feint boxes that have a small p, H1, H2 etc in them. These are [formatting] boxes, which can guide you on how the structure of your page is made up. They show you how the [formatting] affects the way your pages behave.

You can turn on and off these boxes by clicking the icon highlighted.

The editor shields you from having to learn complex [HTML] computer code.

However there are occasions where access to this code is useful. To turn on and off the coded view of your page click the Show HTML button.
