Before Uploading
Images are everything on a website. The quality of an image can mean the difference between a professional looking website and a “Homemade” one.
Time spend improving the quality of images or getting the look “just right” is time well spent.
Format
Images come in a range of formats. You can tell the format of an image by the last three digits at the end of the image name. The most common formats are
- .jpg
- .png
- .bnp
All of these formats are compatible with the Reason8 website creator.
Size
The size of an image is determined by how many pixels it has. The more pixels the higher the quality the image appears. For printed images to appear clear, they require pictures with a high pixel density.
Images used for the internet do not. When an image is viewed on a screen an image of 1200px wide will look no clearer that an image of 400px wide. In addition the higher density the pixels are the bigger the file size is. This can delay uploading and viewing the image.
The ideal size of an image to upload to your website is 400px wide (or long for portrait images).
Larger images can be uploaded but we recommend no larger than 750px. You can easily change the size of an image by using free software. A list of free software manipulation sites can be found at www.reason8.com/support.cfm
