Search Engine Settings

Most Important Search Engine Key Phrase

  • This is the single most important search phrase that you expect your customers to use to find you.
  • Choose this with care. Do not pick a search phrase that returns millions of other webpages but do not choose a search phrase that is so specific no one is ever likely to type it into a search engine.
  • This search phrase will be used repeatedly all over your site and will be used whenever you site is automatically setup on directories and listings

Limitations :

  • Choose a phrase that is short and rich with the exact phrase that you want to get found for.
  • DON’T use fill words like 'a' or 'the'
  • DON'T use commas
  • DON'T use quotes/punctuation marks.
  • DON’T repeat words
  • DON’T use the same phrase as the ‘less import at key phrase’ below

Usage:

  • This phrase will be ‘woven’ throughout your website in ways that are appropriate and sensible to ensure the search engines appreciate that this is your most important search phrase. (For example your title tags for your main pages – see the Search Engine Optimisation section of the user-guide )
  • Please note that you will still have to make sure that the content of your website is appropriate and equally relevant to the search engines.

Less important Key Phrases

  • Enter variations on the ‘most important key phrase’ described above.

Limitations:

  • Limitations same as ‘most important key phrase’ as above.
  • NOTE: These should be derivations of the phrase above and in the same theme. E.g. If the first phrase is “Surrey Tennis raquets” then a less important key phrase might be “tennis equipment”. It would not be sensible to add “Fresh bananans” as a key phrase – even if you also sell this product as it would confuse the search engines.

Usage :

  • These phrases will be ‘woven’ throughout your website in ways that are appropriate and sensible to ensure the search engines appreciate that this is an important search phrase supporting the ‘most important phrase above’. (For example your title tags for your main pages – see the Search Engine Optimisation section of the user-guide).

Summary

  • This is an important summary about your business and your website. This is a 4 or 5 sentence description of your website. Make sure you include the Search engine key phrase above at least once and fill it full of other very important key words that your customers might use.

Limitations

  • Keep it grammatically sensible and avoid using all capitals or quotes

Usage :

  • Reason8 has many relationships with external websites and directories and will use these directories and services to advertise your website. This paragraph will be used to explain what you do and put your website into context.
  • It will act as a VERY important Search engine optimisation mechanism and it is very important that it sells your business well and contains the key phrases that you hope to be found for.

Contact Settings

Show your email address

Displays your email address on your website (we use a clever script that ensures that your email cannot be ‘harvested’ by spam robots to feed you spam)

Usage:

  • Switching this to ‘Yes’ will display your email address and a professional icon.
  • Switching this to ‘No’ will hide your email address and icon however it will still be used by the contact form (see below)

Show a contact form

Important Background

  • When a user clicks on any email on any website their browser will automatically look for and open an email client (such as outlook Express or Microsoft mail). If it finds the client and it has been setup with email settings the user will be able to send an email.
  • However, if the user has not setup an email client (e.g if it is not their PC or they use a web-based email service such as Yahoo/ Hotmail / Gmail) then they will not be able to send an email by simply clicking the email address.
  • To prevent this problem it is usual for websites to offer a contact form that automatically captures message text, turns it into an email and sends it to the website owner.
  • When you preview your website and click the contact page you will see that you customers are offered a choice ‘Click here if you would like us to contact you '. This opens up a new window and allows them to send a message which is turned into an email and sent to the email address entered in Part 3 above.

Limitations:

  • None

Usage:

  • If you choose ‘Yes’ then a professional icon and a link to a standard contact form will be placed in your contact page.
  • If you choose ‘No’ then the icon and link to the form will be removed.
  • We will place a special image code on your form to make sure that only humans can use it . This will prevent the spam robots from sending you spam emails as they cannot read the image with text that we include)

Show address

  • The address you entered above will be shown or switched off

Limitations:

  • Self explanatory - none

Usage:

  • Will show or hide the address entered above

Allow your pages to be printable

When users are viewing your site they may stumble across information that they may want to print. Not all webpages will print as they are viewed on screen. This is especially true if they contain background images or moving animation such as flash files.

This option allows your client to print off your pages in a format that is designed for a printer.
It will not contain your graphical branding but the page content will print naturally.

Limitations:

  •  None

Usage:

  • Will show or hide a ‘printable page’ link below your navigation list of pages.
