Periodically stories about allotments or articles on the benefits of home grown food appear in the press. Which invariably sparks interest in the reader, triggering a wave of eager fresh faced potential allotmenteers. They decend upon their local council smiles on their faces and cheque books in hand. Usually to be faced with what appears to be a never ending waiting list.

But don't dispare every year people have to give up their plots so unless the site is very small you shouldn't have too long to wait.
