Default Website domain transfer

I have a question, I'll be ready to go live with my website sometime in September and wanted to find out about a domain transfer. I was going to start afresh with the new site with a new .com domain which I have bought but am now thinking of using the old website co.uk domain instead.

My current servers say that to transfer the domain to new servers they need your TAG.

Is this a correct request from them? I am not the registrant of this co.uk domain and don't know much about domain ownership.
Please advise.
Thanks.

All the search engine credibility a website builds up is attached to the name. If you are happy to use a name that already has already been used and has some credibility, it could give the new site a boost. However if you are not the registered owner of the name I would consider carefully before using it or try to have the name put in your name.

We can purchase a domain name on your behalf should you wish. However Reason8 use a third party as we are not domain registrars. To have a name you've already purchased pointed to your website you would need to change the Nameservers.

The Reason8 nameservers are

nameserver1: ns.reason8.com
namerserver2: ns1.reason8.com

We hope this helps,
