Before we make the changes to your account we need make you aware of some implications.

All your current SEO credibility is assigned to the website name. Therefore by changing the name you lose any positioning with the search engines you have already gained. By removing a name and adding a new one it will be as though you have launched a new website.

You therefore have a couple of options.

1. You can keep the current name on the site and have the new name directed to it. In this case you will retain your current SEO position but you will not gain any credibility for the new name.

2. Have the new name added as the main domain on your site. You will see your site drop in the listings but it will soon begin to rise again as it gains its own credibility. If you take this option you can also choose to have the old name still pointed to the site. That way if anyone uses the old name they will still be directed to your website.

3. Alternatively you can removed the old name completely. But this will mean you would lose any traffic from clients that already know your website.

We will also need to know what you intend to do with your emails. Do you want the old email addresses maintained or switched to the new one?

If you want email addresses created for the new domain we will need to know the prefix you would like and where you would like it to be directed to.

I hope this is helpful,
Reason8 Support

There are two ways in which you can add a new domain name. Depending on whether you want to buy the name from Reason8 or not.

Buying a domain name via Reason8 (easier option)

1. Log into your website control panel.
2. Click Upgrade button to the left
3. Select to register a new domain name
4. Select the name you want to register and click submit
5. We will automatically register the name to you and direct it to your website as an additional name.

Buying a Domain name from a third party

1. Register the domain name with a provider of your choice
2. Log into the website Control Panel
3. Click Upgrade button to the left
4. Select to transfer another domain name
5. Enter the name you want to add and click submit
6. We will automatically set up your site to receive the name as an additional name.

Both of these options will simply purchased and add another name to your site. Please see the instructions below if you would like the current name to be changed or removed completely.

Changing your current domain name.

1. Follow the steps above depending on how you plan to purchase your name.
2. Email us at support@reason8.com
3. Provide your old and new domain name and confirm what changes you would like us to make i.e change the new name to become the primary name or remove the old one completely.
