Default Link companies

I have been sent an email 'inviting' me to join webmasterkit links exchange.

Do I need to be wary of companies emailing me like this. Or is there any advantage to joining such an exchange?

many thanks

Links are an important part of improving the position of your website. However these link exchange companies are frowned upon by Google and can actually be damaging. You will find that you get many emails such as this along with those from search engine optimisation companies. I would suggest ignoring all such mails and concentrate on building up your links naturally.

These link exchanges are also known as link farms and if found to be using one can actually get your site blocked by Google etc.

I would suggest getting links from suppliers and other related businesses as these although more time consuming will be more beneficial.

You suggest getting links form other companies but this is indeed time consuming - how can you measure or verify how important real links are to your website?

Can you value for example ten good links and say that "ten good links equals a first page listing" or not?
