Default thumbnail Links to video

I would like to be able to have a series of thumbnail pictures, aproximately rows of five across the web page which would make them about an inch and a half long each, and then when you click on them they would open to run a video from youtube which 'hovered' about the thumbnail which could be then clicked to close when finished viewing.

The reason for this is that I have loads of video testimonials and I think, just as Reason8 have done, it looks very impressive, but at the moment the videos take up an awful lot of room on my testimonials page, and people have to do a lot of scrolling.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Im no techie but my son could probably understand techie talk.

PS - Ive never used this before so I do hope im doing it right, if not please help

Regards

Default link to own video's

I have lots of dance video's and would love to show them on the web site (dancers dancing in the costumes we have made) and would like customers to see them and maybe download thier dances also.
I have put links on the website to youtube of famous dancers but would love to have my own video space is this possable and would it be expensive?

Creating the thumbnails is relatively straight forward. All you have to do is add a table with the correct number of rows and columns and then add an image that you want to make click-able. However the fading popup that Reason8 uses on their video pages will be incorporated into the control panel sometime in late 2009. Until then you can either reduce the size of the embedded videos on your site or create an external link to the You Tube videos.

Reason8 does has the facility to allow you to upload video. Just go to the Upload area of your control panel and click video. However, this can work out expensive as we charge per MB (and videos can be rather large). Uploading to You tube is a better option.

You tube provides two options for adding videos to your website.

  • The first and most popular allows you to embed videos onto your webpage so that it appears that they are running of your site. (click the link below for more info
Uploading videos from You tube
  • The second is the address of your video so that you can link to it.
To link to the video, start editing the page where you want the link to be and then either highlight the text that you want to be clickable or click the image that you want to be clickable. Then click the yellow "insert/edit link" icon and choose the option to link to an external webpage. In the box that appears and that starts with a "http:" simply enter the address that you copied from the YouTube site for that particular video.

You can do this easily with thumbnails: You will need to create the pictures and resize the thumbnails and perhaps pop them into a table. But when you have done this just create links to the you tube videos as I described above.

I would suggest doing some searches and try to find reviews for file converters. We use Moyea www.swfkits.com But it isn't cheap and you may be able to find a comparible package free!
